Here is a short list of parrot species. All pictures are of my very own birds!

Sun Conure
The Sun Conure is one of the most beautiful and interesting members of the parrot family.  With it's colorful feathers it will  add a touch of beauty to your home. The Sun Conure needs a diet with lots of fruit and vegetables for the best health. With the proper care and diet a Sun Conure can live up to 30 years.  One of the only draw backs to owning a Sun Conure is the noise level, at times  they can be VERY LOUD! Sun Conures need  alot of one on one time with their owner  daily Sun Conures are monomorphic which means males and females look exactly alike. You can have your bird sexed by having a DNA test done by your avian veternarian.

The Quaker Parrot

The Quaker Parrot  may not be the most beautiful member of the parrot family but don't be fooled  because it's one of the smartest! Quaker Parrots pack a big bird personality into a small birds body, which can make them the ideal pet! Quakers are illegal in some states so before you buy one check with your state to see the rules for owning a Quaker Parrot.  While not  the African Grey, Quakers can talk and do many of the same things as the bigger members of the parrot family. With the proper diet and living conditions Quakers can live up to 30 years.

The Budgie(Parakeet)  is the easiest member of the parrot family to keep as pets and most common "starter" bird. Parakeets are mainly seed eaters but also can be fed fruit and vegetables. A well fed and cared for parkeet usually lives up to 5 years. Female budgies  have a white looking cere and males have a blue or purple cere once they are sexually mature.
There are many other species of parrots such as Macaws,African Greys, and Cockatiels for you to chose from when selecting a pet. The main thing you should always do is lots of research and find the right species for you and your family.

This is my newest baby pearl cockatiel.  Cockatiels make great pets once trained and a trusting relationship is built between you and your bird. I feed mine Zupreem FruitBlend pellets.
